Why You Should Care About Indoor Air Quality
Tuesday, March 12th, 2019 @ 3:03pm
Sometimes when you feel sick, the problem is not you. It’s your home.
The air inside your home plays a big role in the way you and your family feel on a day-to-day basis. Unfortunately, your home’s (iaq) indoor air quality can be 2 to 5 times more polluted than the air outside. And in some cases, it can be up to 100 times more polluted.
Does your home suffer from ‘sick building syndrome’?
The air inside certain buildings, including homes, can make people feel sick due to high concentrations of pollutants in the air. The reason for these high concentrations could be related to a number of different issues, such as the way the building was constructed, the materials used in its construction, or even other environmental factors, including:
- Tobacco smoke
- Pet dander and dust mites
- Outside air pollutants
- Gas powered tools
We are exposed to toxins, pesticides, gases, mites and moulds all the time—they are everywhere. But the more we are exposed to them, the more likely it is to develop health problems they can cause.
