Healthy Home Quality Assessment

Protect Your Home. Protect Your Family.

What is a "Healthy Home"?

The air inside your home has a direct impact on your health. At Mike Holmes Inspections, we focus on the quality of the air inside your home while providing basic recommendations and suggestions that help promote healthier living environments.

Every Healthy Home Quality Assessment includes a full home inspection along with a number of different indoor air quality tests, including Radon, Mould, VOC (volatile organic compounds) testing, as well as thermographic scans. Test results are then compared to national health and safety standards to help identify potentially harmful levels of pollutants in your home.

When it comes to the air you breathe, don't take short cuts. A Healthy Home Quality Assessment is the only way to help make sure your home is safe for you and your family.

Why is my indoor air quality important?

It's easy to ignore what you can't see or touch, but you shouldn't ignore the quality of the air your family breathes in every day.

On average, we spend about 90 percent of our time indoors. During all that time, we breathe in everything that's in our indoor air, including pollutants, VOCs, toxins — even mould spores!

Breathing in these (and other) contaminants over an extended period of time can be harmful, and is known to cause ongoing headaches; nasal congestion; itchy, burning eyes; skin irritation, and/or nausea.

Did you know...

Radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. Also, persistent exposure to mould can affect a child's ability to learn and grow. These and other factors — including the rise of asthma in children, as well as air quality related allergies and illnesses — demonstrate how important it is to protect your home and your family's health.

What to Expect

Every Healthy Home Quality Assessment includes:
  • Radon testing
  • Mould detection testing
  • VOC testing
  • Formaldehyde testing
  • Mike Holmes Extended Home Inspection
  • Thermographic scans
Thermographic scans (or thermal imaging) helps our inspectors identify areas in your home that may be more susceptible to mould growth, as well as other issues that can affect indoor air quality, such as drafts and leaks.

Breathe easy. A Healthy Home Quality Assessment can help!

How long does a Healthy Home Assessment take?

The inspection typically takes between 3-4 hours, depending on the size of your home; however, some testing requires laboratory verification, which may take 4-5 business days to receive final test results.

Do I need to be present during the inspection?

No. Although we do encourage homeowners to be present — to ask questions and learn more about their home, the inspection process and testing — it is entirely up to you whether you are present during your Healthy Home Quality Assessment or not.
